The Brain Tumor Support Group is an informal group discussion, to provide a safe, caring environment for support, education, and a source of hope and encouragement for brain tumor survivors and their loved ones. Guest speakers are scheduled periodically.
Topics to be discussed may include the following:
- Coping with the diagnosis
- Treatment options
- Family relationships
- Stress reduction/relaxation
- Medication side effects
- Emotional responses
- Seizures
- Coping with physical changes
- Friendship during stressful times
- Resources in the community
- Caregiver issues
Facilitators: Kathy Maiers, CNRN, HealthEast Neurosurgery Brain Tumor Nurse Navigator; Kathy Firminger, RN, St. John’s Cancer Care Nurse Navigator; and Lori Anafarta, MA, Marriage and Family Therapist
When: Third Monday of the month; 6:30 to 8 pm
Where: St. Joseph’s Hospital 3M Conference Center, Rooms A/B
The 3M Conference Center is located on the second floor of St. Joseph's Hospital. Either drive to main entrance at 45 W. 10th St. and use valet parking or drive past the main entrance and park in the 10th Street Ramp on your right. Follow the signs to St. Joseph's Hospital/3M conference Center on the second floor of the dePaul Tower.
Cost: Free; complimentary dinner is provided at 6 pm
