Woodwinds values the health of our community and actively partners with community organizations to identify and address priority needs.

Woodbury Health & Wellness Collaborative

The Woodbury Health & Wellness Collaborative was inspired by the vast array of classes, events and education available in the southeast metro. The Collaborative was formed to serve as a unique resource in the community.

Our mission is to improve the health of the community through awareness, education and participation in healthy lifestyle opportunities.

Our goals are to help:

• Improve nutrition
• Increase physical activity 
• Manage stress effectively

Collaborative members thoughtfully plan programs that meet the needs of residents in Woodbury and South Washington County. In 2006, the Collaborative received a Beacon Award for Community Collaborative Projects from the Minnesota Health Strategy and Communications Network.

The group includes City of Woodbury Parks and Recreation, Kowalski's Market, Southeast Area YMCA, South Washington County Community Education, Washington County Public Health and Environment, and Woodwinds Health Campus.

Kids International Wellness Initiative (KIWI)™

The Collaborative supports Kids International Wellness Initiative, a program that promotes healthy behaviors and offers a wider view of the world. It encourages kids to become change makers personally, locally and internationally. This project is in partnership with South Washington Community Education and the South Washington County Kid’s Club program. KIWI will be offered at two locations during the summer of 2010, Cottage Grove and Middleton Elementary Schools.

Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP)

The state of Minnesota has created the Statewide Health Improvement Program to provide county funding over the next two years to address two of Minnesota’s major health issues: tobacco and obesity. Woodwinds is involved with SHIP in Washington County in various ways.  Learn about Washington County's vision and plan.
