HealthEast Surgery Centers

More surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, thanks to new medical technology, anesthesia and pain management.

HealthEast Surgery Centers provide safe, convenient, high quality outpatient service for patients of all ages, including children over six months old. For your convenience, we offer the entire surgical experience — from admission to discharge — at each of our locations.

Procedures at either of our outpatient surgery centers are scheduled by your surgeon's office.

Caring, skilled staff

Our entire staff makes every effort to ensure you have a positive experience while in our care. Our goal is to have you and your escort feel fully informed about your:

• Care before surgery
• Care after surgery
• Pain management

You will be cared for by highly skilled nurses, surgical technologists and nursing assistants, all of whom are trained in the latest surgical techniques. In addition, anesthesiologists and anesthetists maintain the safest and most current methods of delivering anesthesia during surgery. They also provide consultation and care for patients who are recovering from surgery.

Before and after surgery

Before surgery, you will receive a call and a patient booklet, Your Guide to Surgery, explaining preoperative instructions, surgery and recovery procedures, as well as directions to the facility. You can also click here to download that information.

After surgery, you will be discharged only after meeting specific guidelines and receiving complete instructions for care. You will also receive a follow-up call to inquire about your recovery after you have left the surgery center.

Comfort and convenience

Handy locations, with convenient parking, allow easy access, especially for elderly patients, family and escorts. Patients and surgeons have said they like the private, calm surroundings, with no emergency procedures to interrupt the schedule.

They also appreciate the comfort of having family members wait with them before surgery. During the surgery, families wait in family-friendly waiting areas and our staff keeps them updated on their loved one's procedure. For those who request Spiritual Care services, chaplains are available to meet with you.

Accreditation and safety

HealthEast Surgery Centers are certified by The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that was established over 50 years ago. They are the world leader in evaluating the quality and safety of care delivered in more than 17,000 health care organizations across the country.

To maintain and earn accreditation, a facility undergoes an extensive on-site review by a select team of professionals from The Joint Commission at least once every three years. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the facility's performance in areas that affect patient care. Through an assessment of processes and personal visits with patients and staff, the facility is evaluated and scored.

HealthEast Surgery Centers are also active members of the Safest in America program. The goal of this program is to improve patient safety and includes health care organizations from across the Twin Cities.

For children needing surgery

Prior to your child having surgery, you are encouraged to tour the surgery center to lessen your child's fears and have your questions answered. On the day of surgery, one parent may go into the operating room until your child is sedated.
