After surgery, you will be watched closely in a special room. Your escort will be informed of your progress and will join you as soon as possible.
Inpatient
If you are staying in the hospital, you will be moved to a patient room. We want your stay in our guest suites to feel like home.
Outpatient
If you are going home the same day of surgery, we ask that you arrange having a support person accompany you the day of your surgery. To provide you with the best and safest care, this person will be asked to do the following:
- Listen to your surgeon's instructions.
- Take you home. If you have anesthesia, it's important that you have someone drive you home. If you don't have a driving arrangement set-up, we must cancel your surgery.
- Stay and care for you 24 hours after surgery.
If you are going home the same day of surgery, a nurse will call you at home within 72 hours to see how you are doing.
Recovery
Our nurses and doctors will discuss recovery with you and your escort before you leave the surgery center.
All patients receive individualized instructions for follow-up care, as well as a phone call the day after surgery to check on the healing process. Your recovery depends on the type of surgery you have and your general health.
