A birth plan (pdf) lets you share your choices and preferences about labor, birth and your hospital stay.
Give a copy of your birth plan to your doctor or midwife and bring a copy to the hospital.
The staff will work to follow your plan. However, it's important to remember that your safety and your baby’s safety is their priority. Depending on the course of your labor, some of your requests may not be possible.

To help you prepare for your trip to the Maternity Care Center, we've put together a checklist of items (pdf) to bring to the hospital.
When the time comes for you to go to the hospital, please use the Emergency Care Center entrance and a member of our staff will escort you to your room in the Maternity Care Center.
You will be served meals while you are in the hospital. If you would like to bring food or snacks from home, a microwave and refrigerator are available in the Maternity Care Center. Our cafeteria and vending machines are available for family and visitors.
Maternity Care rooms were designed with extra space so family and friends can visit and celebrate with you. Each room also features a chair that pulls into a bed so your partner or support person can spend the night in your room.
