Volunteers usually donate one four-hour day or evening shift per week, which includes a lunch break. However, they may also choose to volunteer more hours each week.
What do volunteers wear?
Volunteers wear a uniform to differentiate them from hospital staff. Uniforms can be purchased from the volunteer department.
What type of committment is expected?
Volunteers are asked to plan on four hours per week for at least six months.
What types of positions do volunteers hold?
Volunteer opportunities range from customer service positions to assisting staff with special projects. Assignments will be determined by your skills, interests and availability.

What does St. John's do to recognize its volunteers?
Adult volunteers are honored at a volunteer recognition event each spring and are encouraged to attend a volunteer education event each fall. Volunteers receive a meal coupon during each volunteer shift.
