The Maternity Care Center at St. John's was designed with ideas from patients, family, staff and physicians. Their suggestions helped us create an environment that is warm, friendly, convenient and the perfect place to welcome a new member to your family.

Each spacious room features warm tones and a variety of lighting, including sconces and large windows for natural light. The birthing area of each room is able to change quickly when our moms are ready to deliver and have plenty of room for monitors and other equipment needed to ensure a safe delivery.

Each room includes a flat-screen TV with DVD player and gaming outlets, mini-fridge, closet and countertop for extra space. Other amenities include a pantry at the end of each unit with microwaves and larger refrigerator that is typically stocked with beverages for patients.

Coaches are invited to stay with you in your room. Each room offers a couch that quickly converts into a bed, as well as a small table that can function as a place to set up a laptop computer or set snacks or meals.

St. John's offers waterbirth as an option to expectant moms. A waterbirth is when the baby is born under water in a wide, deep tub. Water has many soothing benefits and has been shown to calm and comfort — even during labor and delivery.

Just inside the door of each room is an area for the nurses and physicians who will care for you during your stay. This area contains a sink for handwashing, supplies and a place to update your chart.

A whimsical addition to our hallway walls is a sculpture called Blowing Kisses, created by artist Allison Luedtke. Her inspiration was the song "Close to You," made famous by The Carpenters.
