Timeframe
HealthEast data (in the graph above and table below) shows care delivered from July 2009 through June 2010. The Minnesota average comes from data publicly reported through MN Community Measurement and reflects care delivered in 2008.
What the graph is saying
For this measure, higher percentages are better. The graph above shows that overall, HealthEast Clinics are above the Minnesota average.
You can compare performance of clinics across the state with the 2009 Health Care Quality Report, on the MN Community Measurement web site.

About this measure
The best treatment for asthma includes a prescription medication (such as an inhaler) to control the symptoms. This measure shows the percentage of asthma patients, ages 5-56, who were prescribed appropriate medication.
Inhaled corticosteroids are the recommended therapy for those with moderate to severe asthma. Even when asthma is less severe, this is still the number one therapy. When used regularly, inhaled corticosteroids are proven to reduce the inflammation in the airways caused by asthma.
