Your Care After Surgery

All patients receive individualized instructions for follow-up care, as well as a phone call the day after surgery to check on the healing process. Your recovery depends on the type of surgery you have and your general health.

Our nurses and doctors will discuss recovery with you and your escort before you leave the surgery center.

  • After surgery, you will be watched closely in a special room.

  • Your escort will be informed of your progress and will join you as soon as possible.

  • If you are staying in the hospital, you will be moved to a patient room.

  • If you are going home the same day of surgery, you must arrange for someone to:
    • Listen to your surgeon’s instructions
    • Take you home. Your surgery will be cancelled if your have anesthesia medicine and do not have a ride.
    • Stay with you for 24 hours after surgery

  • To see how you are doing after surgery, a nurse will call you at home the next day.
