The effects of acupuncture after total joint replacement
Summit Orthopedics and Woodwinds Health Campus are conducting a clinical research study on the effects of acupuncture after total joint (hip or knee) replacement surgery.
Acupuncture is being studied to compare its effectiveness as an optional additional therapy for pain management after orthopaedic surgery. Specifically, we are interested in knowing if acupuncture therapy decreases post-operative pain and reduces the use of pain medication.
We welcome your consideration to participate in this study while recovering from knee or hip replacement surgery.
You can consider participating in this study if you:
- Are between 18 and 80 years old
- Are planning a knee or hip replacement at Woodwinds, and haven't had this type of surgery in the last 3 months
- Haven't had acupuncture in the past
- Are not currently participating in another interventional study
