Woodwinds through our patients' eyes

Jerry M.

Oakdale

"Now that I've had my hips replaced, I feel great. I don't know why I waited so long."

Aches and pains may be an occupational given in construction work, but after six years of increasing pain, Jerry acted on a referral from a friend which led him to Woodwinds. A little over a year and two new hips later, Jerry is back in the construction business.

Kathy P.

Maplewood

"Woodwinds really goes the extra mile for their patients."

When Kathy, a nurse for 17 years, decided to have total knee replacement, she searched for a hospital that offered more than basic care. She chose Woodwinds, not only for its excellent medical reputation, but also for the healing touch and acupuncture therapies offered as part of the recovery process.

Val J.

Stillwater

"I felt so safe and comfortable – I just wanted to stay!"

Severe knee pain was interfering with Val's life. No longer able to use the stairs or walk for any distance, Val, a massage therapist, chose to have knee replacement. During previous surgeries, she had experienced severe nausea from the anesthesia, but at Woodwinds, Val was able to have acupuncture prior to surgery – and this time, she experienced no nausea whatsoever.

Pam S.

Apple Valley

"It was such a great place. The nurses always took time to talk and answer my questions."

Before knee pain had become a serious problem for Pam, she had earned a purple belt in karate. But over time, this once active school bus driver could barely exit the bus. Upon the recommendation of a family member, Pam came to Woodwinds for total knee replacement surgery. After participating in Joint Camp, she's thinking of taking up tai chi.

Bob K.

Inver Grove Heights

"I couldn't have asked for better care – before, during and after surgery."

With two bum hips, Bob couldn't do even basic yard work, let alone his favorite winter sport, snowmobiling. So Bob came to Woodwinds for hip replacement – first one, and six weeks later, the other. As part of his recovery, he participated in Joint Camp and the Lunch Bunch program, where he learned how to become active again.
