National conference features HealthEast Perinatal Safety



National conference features HealthEast Perinatal Safety Nashville, TN (June 9, 2009) - HealthEast Maternity specialists gave a special presentation during the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Community conference in Nashville. Lisa Cervantez, RN, Performance Improvement Specialist was a guest "faculty" member. She shared our successful journey in building a Perinatal Safety program through the work of our Perinatal Safety Collaborative.

The session was titled "Building a Perinatal Safety Program: Multiple Ramps at a Time". Highlights of the session included how to manage multiple projects with available resources, strategic planning and how to effectively engage others to improve Perinatal patient safety that is sustainable.

Also attending this national conference was Carol Busman, RN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, who co-chairs the Perinatal Safety Collaborative committee; Laura France, MD, Perinatal Safety Collaborative Committee co-chair/physician champion; Peg McCoy, BSN, St John's Maternity Care Center Clinical Director and Tabitha Brown, RN, St. John's L&D nurse.

Last month, the HealthEast Perinatal Safety program received the Minnesota Hospital Association's (MHA) 2009 Innovation award.
