Dr. Rahul Koranne Expands Role at Bethesda HospitalDr. Koranne has assumed strategic guidance in the development and delivery of clinical quality initiatives for Bethesda medical staff handling all levels of inpatient and outpatient care. His long-term goal is to form centers of excellence across the hospital's broad range of services including brain injury rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and dementia care, Parkinson's disease management and complex medical programming. Dr. Koranne has also joined a team of HealthEast leaders to work on an essential care navigation project which will be designed to significantly improve the transitional experience of older patients as they move along the continuum of care. Over the past year, Dr. Koranne has successfully managed a number of hospital projects including medication reconciliation, patient handoff processes and electronic health record (EHR) implementation. These areas are seen as key contributors to the hospital's commitment to improved quality performance and increased patient satisfaction. "Our entire team has renewed its dedication to providing world-class health care that will make us the benchmark for quality by 2010," said Koranne. "Bethesda's tradition of working proactively on issues of quality and of thinking outside of the box to produce and offer unique patient/family programs makes me excited to come to work every day." Dr. Koranne completed his geriatrics fellowship at the University of Minnesota, working at Bethesda Hospital in geriatric care under the direction of Dr. Alvin Holm. Following several years in private practice, Dr. Koranne returned to HealthEast. A graduate of the University of Delhi Medical School, he recently earned his Master of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. |
