With the HealthEast Clinic and Specialty Center - Maplewood opening this month, it just got easier to come in and get that sore throat, bladder infection or twisted ankle checked out.
“Our expanded hours will be a big draw,” said Emilie Niemann, walk-in care manager. You can walk in without an appointment from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday, and from 8 am to 4 pm on weekends.
Whether you already have a doctor at the clinic or not, checking in is easy.
“We would first look to see if your primary doctor is open, and if not, schedule you for the first available provider for walk-in,” said Erin Bohnen, clinic manager.
With more providers and more exam rooms than our previous Maplewood location, that means less waiting. A testing lab and a pharmacy right in the building will make it even faster to get you on your way to feeling better.
“If a patient comes in and says I think I might have a urinary tract infection, they will take a urine sample right away even before they see the provider,” Niemann said. “The provider will see them, the results will already be back and the prescription will be sent to the pharmacy.”
More advanced tests like ultrasounds to diagnose stomach pains or CT scans and MRIs to diagnose injuries can also be done right in the building.
“We used to have to send patients over to the hospital,” Niemann said. “Now we can do that during the walk-in visit. The patient doesn’t have to drive or leave the building to get those services.”
But we’ve been saving the best for last. You know how an urgent care visit usually costs more than seeing your regular doctor? Not here.
“Our scope is like any urgent care,” Niemann said. “But because we’re embedded in a primary care clinic, it’s a lower copay for the patient. We bill it as a regular office visit.”
