From 1907 to 1983, 2,327 nurses graduated from the three-year Mounds-Midway School of Nursing diploma program. These nurses serve their mission of healing around the world. Many graduates served as cadets in World War II, as missionaries worldwide and in the military.

In 1906, they broke ground for Mounds Park Sanitarium, and in 1909, the first class of nurses graduated from the Christian-based School of Nursing. Throughout the years, Mounds Park Hospital housed and educated nursing students and served the health care needs of St. Paul's east side community.
Midway Hospital served the Twin Cities for 70
years from 1927 to 1997. After closing the hospital,
HealthEast transformed the building into a corporate
tower housing an office building, a pain clinic, same day surgery and x-ray departments.
The Nursing Museum, chapel and two conference rooms also reside on the first floor.

Preserving a great deal of nursing heritage, the Mounds-Midway School of Nursing Museum exhibits artifacts, documents and photos.
Exhibits focus on the history of the Mounds Park and Midway Hospitals and include authentic displays such as a patient's room set up with a crank bed, a lap table, a three-way metal and privacy screen and wooden wheelchair. Mannequins at the patient's bedside wear vintage nursing uniforms, including capes.

The museum features a beautiful quilt handmade by Midway Hospital employees that depicts the two Midway Hospital buildings, the four School of Nursing pins and special quilted squares from each department — a work of love and art.

It proudly displays the photos of the nursing school directors and faculty. Notice the many other interesting artifacts from days gone by such as surgical instruments, educational collections, yearbooks, photos, Florence Nightingale memorabilia, missionary and military cadet exhibits and artwork. Each year celebrates a special theme.
Gift items are for sale in the museum.
