HealthEast's special care nurseries were created to comfort and care for sick or premature newborns.
St. John’s Hospital
At St. John's, we have a fully equipped neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and skilled, compassionate staff. Our NICU is a Level IIIa nursery. This means we treat babies as premature as 28 weeks gestation and care for sick newborns.
The NICU is staffed around the clock by specially trained registered nurses (RNs), neonatal nurse practitioners and neonatologists (doctors who specialize in caring for newborns). Learn more here.
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Woodwinds
The nurseries at St. Joseph's and Woodwinds were designed for infants who are born up to six weeks prematurely or need extra care after birth.
Neonatal nurse practitioners are in the hospitals at all times to handle emergencies. Neonatologists provide medical direction for these special care nurseries.
