At HealthEast, we advocate for breastfeeding and are committed to providing support and education. However, we also understand that breastfeeding is a personal choice and not for everyone. Whether or not you choose to breastfeed, your decision will be respected by our staff.

Before your baby is born

Attend prenatal classes, including breastfeeding preparation, offered by Amma Parenting Center. Learn more.

In the hospital

Our Maternity Care nurses have specialized training to support lactation (breastfeeding). At St. John's, St. Joseph's and Woodwinds, there is also a daily breastfeeding class for new moms in the hospital. A certified lactation consultant is available to help if you have concerns.

After you go home

After discharge, you can get breastfeeding support by telephone or by scheduling an appointment with a certified lactation consultant.
