29th Annual HealthEast Foundation Festival of Trees
Your annual dose of do good and good times*
A record-breaking 851 people had reservations to the Festival of Trees Holiday Gala on November 23. Thank you to everyone who participated in this spectacular display of holiday giving and fun! The gala, which benefits HealthEast patients, their families and our community, would not be a success without our generous guests, sponsors and the many, many volunteers who prepared and worked the gala.
$748,000 was raised – with 100 percent going to help patients like Millie, an infant born prematurely at St. John's Hospital after her mother went into labor at only 28 weeks. Millie's story was one of three shared at the gala by storyteller Don Shelby, retired television journalist and anchor, and illustrated how HealthEast changes the lives of our neighbors in the East Metro community.
The following videos were shown at Festival of Trees:
Millie – A premature infant born at St. John's Hospital.
Don Obernolte – In October 2007, you helped Don reinvent his life at Bethesda Hospital after he was almost crushed to death by a 1,700-pound tree.
A refugee's story – For the past few years, you have provided health care and hope at the HealthEast Roselawn Clinic for newly arrived refugees, many of whom are survivors of torture and war.
We can't repeat ourselves enough – we sincerely thank everyone who donated, attended, or volunteered at the gala and gave so generously to help our patients and community receive the best possible health care.
*Guaranteed side effects: A healthier East Metro, compulsive generosity and the uncontrollable urge to dance.
