Prediabetes is a condition in which a person’s blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Left unchecked, this condition often leads to type 2 diabetes – a lifelong disease.
This program is designed for a person who has a family history of diabetes, a person diagnosed with prediabetes or a person who would like more information about decreasing their risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
Studies have shown that you can decrease your risk of getting type 2 diabetes by 58 percent by making some healthy lifestyle changes. The Diabetes Prevention Program will give you information and support to make these behavior changes.

This is a four-hour program split into two sessions. A loaner blood sugar meter and instructions on how to use the meter are included in this program. You are encouraged to bring a support person at no extra charge. If your support person would like to participate and receive class materials, the class fee would apply to them also.
The cost of the class is $35. Financial assistance is available.
