James Letts, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor who enjoys working with patients of all ages. He joined HealthEast Roselawn Clinic in September 2004 and has special interests in preventive medicine, public health and caring for medically underserved communities.

Dr. Letts grew up in St. Peter, MN; graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire; and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota . He completed his residency in St. Paul. In his spare time, Dr. Letts enjoys hiking, camping, bicycling and listening to music.

What made you decide to practice medicine?

"I chose to practice medicine because of my interest in science and a love of working with people. I believe in the importance of preventing health problems before they cause people harm."

Why did you choose HealthEast?

"I joined HealthEast because I was very impressed with their commitment to primary care and because of the reputation of the doctors at the Roselawn Clinic."

What's the most important thing you tell your patients about staying healthy?

"It's important to stay in touch with your doctor because your health care needs will change throughout your lifetime. There's a lot we can do to screen for, prevent and treat diseases that affect children, adults and seniors."

What advice do patients ask you for most often?

"They often ask, 'What would you do if you had this problem?'"

What do you think your patients value most about you?

"I believe my patients value my willingness to listen and make them feel comfortable, regardless of the type of health problem they may have."
