Meet Dr. William Walsh

William Walsh, MD

Allergy physician
HealthEast Allergy Care
651-326-1044

Dr. Walsh graduated from the College of St. Thomas and completed his medical degree at Creighton University. He is certified by the American Board of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He has been named a "Top Doc" seven times by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine.

How long have you been in practice?

"More than 30 years."

What special training or experience have you had that might be of interest to your patients?

"I was a fellow in allergy at the Mayo Clinic and then passed my boards and am a diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. I am also the author of books about allergy written for the general public. Home Allergy: Don’t Let Your Home Make You Sick explores how mold and other exposures in the home make people sick and how to correct these exposures. Food Allergy: The Complete Guide to Understanding and Relieving Your Food Allergy is the fifth edition describing the complicated field of food sensitivity. Previous editions had different names."

What particular areas of interest do you have in your practice?

"All aspects of allergy fascinate me, especially conditions that I share with my patients: chronic sinus infection (chronic rhinosinusitis), complicated food sensitivity, recurrent sinus and migraine headaches and severe spring and fall hay fever.

I am also intrigued by the frequent coexistence of allergy and autoimmune symptoms. The causes of persistent rashes, chronic abdominal distress and wheezing can often be identified in the environment and diet."

What are your personal hobbies or interests?

"I enjoy writing about allergy including my books and my newsletter, Allergy: Information and Comment. I also enjoy reading, gardening and family life with my wife, son and daughter."

How would you describe your practice philosophy?

"For many of our patients, living with allergy is like living with the aching and tiredness of a never-ending flu. Allergists can relieve these distressing symptoms and our patients deserve this relief."

Is there anything else you would like patients or prospective patients to know about you?

"I love being an allergist. In our skin tests and allergy injection treatment we possess remarkably potent tools to diagnose and treat patients who suffer greatly. I am very excited to be partnering with HealthEast to develop a new allergy clinic that is both competent and caring."
