Hearing loss can be both frustrating and scary. It can affect your work, your relationships and even put you in harm's way.

Hearing aids can be used to overcome hearing loss and tinnitus (ringing or sound in the ears). HealthEast Audiology offers a variety of hearing aids so you can choose the right fit for your lifestyle and your budget.

How hearing aids can help

The use of hearing aids can provide multiple benefits at work and at home. They can help you feel more connected to family and friends by allowing you to hear more clearly without straining. They can also make you feel safer when driving or working around home. In addition, they can help you enjoy hobbies and daily activities like talking on the phone.

What to expect

Hearing evaluation

First, you will be seen for a hearing evaluation appointment with an audiologist. To schedule an appointment call 651-232-0707. HealthEast Audiology has three convenient locations – Maplewood, St. Paul and Woodbury.

Some insurance companies require a referral from your primary care physician for this appointment.

Hearing aid evaluation & fitting

If hearing aids are recommended, you will schedule an appointment for a hearing aid evaluation. This visit is an opportunity to learn about the style and technology of various hearing aids. At this appointment you will also place your order for your hearing aids.

You will return about two weeks later for a hearing aid fitting. At this appointment you learn how to use and care for your hearing aids.

Follow-up appointments

After a few weeks, you will return for a follow-up exam. This appointment allows for fine-tuning and gives you an opportunity to ask any additional questions. Future appointments are scheduled as needed.

Choosing a hearing aid

There are many different styles, sizes and models of hearing aids. Your HealthEast audiologist can help you choose the one that is best for you, taking into account your needs and lifestyle.

In the state of Minnesota, it is mandated that patients have a 45-day trial period for hearing aids to ensure they are a good fit for your listening needs.
