About your first visit

On your first visit, we will ask you questions about your symptoms to help identify the allergies that bother you. We will perform skin testing to confirm the causes suggested by your history.

One of our nurses will perform the skin test. They describe the test as it is performed, and tell you the results as they appear.

The skin test helps explore the causes of your allergies; it points out the pollen, dust mites, mold, animal dander and foods that bother you today or may bother you in the future. Patients often ask whether the skin test hurts. You will experience some discomfort, but the test it not painful.

After the examination and testing have been completed, we will discuss your treatment. At times, the results of your examination will point to causes that you can avoid. Sometimes you cannot avoid these causes.

If medicines do not give you sufficient relief, we frequently use allergy injections to help you. These injections do not provide immediate relief; their effect gradually increases as you continue to receive them.

Take the Asthma Control Test

Who's in control…you or your asthma? The Asthma Control Test™ is a way to help you and your provider determine if your asthma symptoms are well controlled. When you are done, be sure to review your results with your provider.
