The HealthEast Care System Pharmacy Residency Program offers an ideal setting for residents to develop skills, knowledge and confidence as pharmacists. This residency offers a comprehensive learning experience in HealthEast's acute care and long-term acute care hospital settings. As a nationally recognized top performing health system, HealthEast offers a wide range of programs focusing on high-quality, safe, effective patient care.
Residency program features
- Individualized experience in a clinical practice model that includes pharmacists as integral members of the health care team
- Completing and presenting a major project (suitable for publication) at a regional or national conference
- Pharmacy staffing for enhanced knowledge of medication use system
- Informal teaching opportunities with patients and fourth-year pharmacy students, as well as formal presentations
- Committee involvement as part of multidisciplinary teams in pharmacy and therapeutics, patient care and medication safety
- Practice management and leadership experience
Core rotations
- Critical care (general critical care/ICU, neurovascular critical care and cardiology)
- Internal medicine
- Pharmacy practice management
Elective rotations
- Long-term acute care
- Oncology
- Pain management
- Infectious disease
- Internal medicine (second rotation, additional focused learning)

The HealthEast Care System started its Pharmacy Residency Program in July 2007 and has received accreditation by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). We are a participant in Residency Match program and will be at the ASHP Midyear Clinical meeting to take part in the Residency showcase.
