Lymphedema services
A small number of women experience lymphedema after surgery for breast cancer. Lymphedema occurs when lymph fluid backs up in a limb. HealthEast Optimum Rehabilitation has certified lymphedema therapists on staff. A doctor's referral is needed for treatment.
Integrative Therapies
Integrative therapies are designed to complement your medical care. They are also known as healing arts therapies, complementary medicine or complementary therapies.
Healing touch
When you are experiencing stress and discomfort during your breast cancer journey, healing touch therapy may bring a sense of well being, relaxation and relief from symptoms.
Healing Touch is based on the belief that each person has an energy field in and around the body that can be influenced to promote health and healing. While you remain fully clothed, the healing touch provider uses gentle touch and hand motions on and above the body to facilitate the clearing and balancing of your energy field.

Acupuncture
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the body has an energy force called Qi (pronounced Chee) that must be balanced and free-flowing to maintain health. When the body's circulation of Qi is not in a balanced state, health can suffer. It is thought that acupuncture can help the body regain its flow of energy and energy balance.
Acupuncture involves inserting fine, sterile needles at precisely selected points on the body to redirect patterns of energy circulation. Each point has a demonstrated effect that has been clinically tested and documented over thousands of years in China. The needles are left in for between 10 and 40 minutes, with 20 minutes being the average time.
After acupuncture, patients often experience a calming effect and an improved sense of well-being - in addition to getting relief for their symptoms.
