People who meet Richard Field can easily see how his Harley Davidson shirt reflects so much of his own personality: tough, determined, and true to his life’s purpose. Diagnosed with multiple aneurysms throughout his body, he underwent major surgery to correct the situation, since the rupture of even one aneurysm has the potential to cause death. Following four weeks at St. Joseph's Hospital in the ICU, Richard was very weak and in no condition to return home. His physicians transferred him to Bethesda Hospital, where therapists worked on his staggered walk, his slurred speech, and his inability to do something as simple as pick up a pencil.
