Education
Dr. Wirtz was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa, where he received both his BA and MD degrees. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa, and took his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Practice interests
He has a special interest in sepsis syndromes and blood stream infections.
