Communications Center

Our onsite Communications Center is the hub of HealthEast Transportation. State-of the-art technology allows our staff to track the status and location of all ground ambulances throughout our service area. When seconds count, dispatchers quickly determine the closest available unit. Our medical dispatch staff also provides communications for physician paging, pre-arrival and after-hour call answering.

Using Global Positioning System technology, ambulances are tracked by their location. Information is displayed on a large viewing screen in the Communications Center, and ambulance status is color-coded so dispatchers can determine at a glance whether a vehicle is available and is involved in a life-saving situation or on a patient transport.

The Communications Center is the first point of entry for all emergency and non-emergency calls. Our highly trained emergency medical dispatchers play a vital role by providing emergency medical directions over the phone until emergency staff arrives at the scene.

For additional safety and security, all calls to the Communications Center are electronically recorded and the center operates with an uninterruptible power source.
